Hiking or skinning uphill to get a jump on the day, or stretch the ski day is great, but there are some strict guidelines in place to ensure that we are safe. Please take a quick look to familiarize yourself with what is, and what isn't acceptable for inbounds uphill traffic at Stowe Resort.
Remember that this is a place of work for mountain personnel using heavy, and sometimes dangerous equipment. If a skier has an encounter with a Snow Cat, cable or high-pressure snow-making hose, the skier will lose!
The following times and areas for uphill traffic have been established with the grooming schedule in mind. Please adhere to the schedule and all will be well.
During hours of operation: Easy Mile
4pm-Midnight: Lower Tyro to Lullaby Lane to Tollroad
Midnight-Opening: Perry Merrill and Upper Nosedive
In the early season, before the Spruce side opens, Sterling is available at all times.
Leave your dog at home.
Wear a headlamp and reflective gear if you're out in low light or snowy conditions.
Ski down the same way you went up.
Stick to the edge of the trail while traveling uphill
Avoid wearing headphones: be aware of the sound of machinery around you.
Of course, things can change, so Stowe has set up a Hotline to call for the latest information about grooming schedules and uphill conditions. Please check the hotline before you set out to climb the hill: 802-253-3690.
